
Beginning Watercolor
5 session series with Gillian Burton beginning 6/10/26
Class Description
This watercolor class with Gillian Burton offers students a supportive introduction to essential techniques across five 1.5-hour sessions. Participants will begin with foundational skills such as flat and graded washes, then explore key methods including wet-into-wet, wet-on-dry, color mixing, blending, and the expressive effects created by the natural flow and bleeding of watercolor pigments. As time allows, students will also experiment with creative mark-making using tools beyond the traditional brush, encouraging curiosity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of how watercolor responds to different techniques and materials. Students are responsible for bringing the following supplies: Daniel Smith set six essentials: PAINTS: Hansa Yellow Light, New Gamboge, Quinacridone Red, Pyrol Scarlet, Pthalo Blue, French Aquamarine. ($33.66) PAPER: Bee Creative or equivalent spiral watercolor book. One sheet of #140 paper for your final painting. Brushes: Round, Rigger and flat Misc: Plate for mixing water containers (2)
