Karin Harris

Instructor Bio:
Throughout her artistic career, Karin Harris has been dedicated to capturing the essence of nature and the captivating interplay of light and shadow through the magical medium of watercolor. Drawn to the fluidity, transparency, and spontaneity of watercolor, Karin continues to explore the endless possibilities the medium offers while sharing her passion and knowledge with others.
Teaching has become an important part of Karin's artistic journey. Through demonstrations and personalized instruction, she encourages each student to explore the unique qualities of watercolor and discover an approach that works best for them. Her classes combine instruction in color theory, color mixing, design, and painting techniques while allowing students the freedom to develop their own creative voice and personal style.
Karin began her art career in the 1980s, exhibiting in galleries throughout Portland, Oregon. Her journey later led her to own a gallery in Portland's Pearl District while also teaching art at Marylhurst College. For more than a dozen years, she combined her love of art, culture, and travel by leading art and cultural tours throughout Europe and Mexico.
Today, Karin continues to share her experience and enthusiasm for watercolor by teaching at art centers and art clubs throughout Southern California. Her greatest hope is that each student leaves with not only new skills and knowledge, but also the confidence and inspiration to continue exploring their own artistic path.
